The 3 Main Parts of The Brain

To start off we are going to talk about the main parts of the brain... There are 3 main parts to it

  • The Cerebrum
    • This is the largest part of the brain and is composed of right and left hemispheres. It performs higher functions like interpreting touch, vision and hearing, as well as speech, reasoning, emotions, learning, and fine motor control.

  • The Cerebellum
    • This part of the brain is located under the cerebrum. The main functions of this part of the brain are to control posture, balance, and muscle movements.

  • The Brainstem
    • This part of the brain includes the mid-brain, pons, and medulla. The brainstem controls the flow of messages between the brain and the rest of the body. The brainstem also controls many of our basically bodily functions like breathing, swallowing, blood pressure, heart rate, consciousness, and if we feel sleepy or awake.
